Butt it wasn't too happy for us on New Year's Eve. Do you know what the parents did? They had the audacity to go out and leave us, their precious furchildren, behind by ourselves!!!

We were not happy campers at all, no siree, no way!

What????? You are going out without us?

Chewy tried to give the saddest puppy dog gaze he had, butt that didn't even work (and the Mom is usually a sucker for that, hee hee)

The Mom said she missed us.....does it look like they missed us?

She did redeem herself in my eyes the next day when she made me a new hoodie.

Chewy is still waiting for his redemption.

In other news, it was a sad day at Pella Heights when our tree came down today.

We sure are going to miss it, we loved the glow of the lights at night, and the tree skirt made the best ~~pee pad~~ sitting spot ever!

Oh My Dog!!! We can't believe you guys are back in Blogville!!!!! We saw your post today and just about swooned in excitement at seeing you guys again after so long! We've been dancing around, giddy with happiness because we just terribly missed you guys. Even the Mom was dancing with us!

However, we have one very small problem. Since you guys have been away, the comment section on Blogger has gotten terribly messed up, and if it's embedded in the post, it doesn't work for us. A Diva's Birthday Celebration

I am 3 today!!

But the celebration was yesterday, and boy was it a pawty! So today was just spent vegging out on the couch with the Mom and Chewy.

Wednesday the Mom spent the afternoon getting ready for the pawty.
The cake was in the oven

The peaches were pureed for the peach mojitos (Adults only, BOL!)

And the hamburger was made for our birthday dinner

Then we helped to clean up

The day of the celebration dawned sunny and warm and we got all pupped up. The Mom made all 3 of us (me, Chewy and Sally Jean) birthday pawty outfits!!

Never Fear, We're Still Here!!

We know, we know, it's been waaaay too long since we've posted on our blog, butt it's really not our fault, we swear!! We place the blame firmly on the Mom's shoulders, as she is our secretary and she has been so very lazy and slacking lately.

Butt in all fairness to her, nothing exciting has been going on in our world either. The same ole same ole routine - get up in the morning, eat, go back to sleep, get up and run around a bit, then time for the afternoon nap, the Mom comes home and we go out for our daily walk, we come home and eat, then watch and beg as the humans eat, then settle down with the Mom and watch some TV before heading off to bed. The next day - all over again!

To prove that we are still around, here is a video for your viewing pleasure. It's me, Chewy, acting like a goof pup before going to bed, hee hee!!

Progression of Sleep

She Did It!

Mom has successfully quit smoking! Today is the 32nd day of being smoke free and she can now call herself a non-smoker, woo hoo!

Mom has been smoking since she was 15 years old. So that means she's been smoking now for close to 30 years. She has tried so many times in the past to quit this nasty habit, but never was successful. She wasn't that heavy of a smoker, about a pack a day, butt still, that's enough to cause a lot of damage. The longest she went before was 2 weeks, before she gave in to the craving and lit up.

She was thinking about quitting again, and even tried for a couple of days back in September. Butt the night before Thanksgiving was when she finally had it and said "enough with this bad habit!" She thought about the many reasons why she should do it, such as:
1. She'll live a lot longer
2. She'll be saving a ton of money (which means more that she can spend on us, BOL!)
3. Her lung capacity will come back
4. She won't smell like a stinky ashtray anymore
5. The house won't smell like a stinky ashtray anymore
6. Butt most importantly, and one of the main reasons why she had to quit, was she was very worried about us breathing in second hand smoke. She said she would be devestated if we got cancer because of her, especially seeing as how she's doing everything in her power to keep us healthy and living long lives. She also said that she was so tired being a slave to the addiction.

So, the Monday after Thanksgiving, she woke up, slapped a patch on and has not looked back. She says it's true when they say "You'll only be successful with quitting if you really want to quit." And she really did want to quit and be sucessful this one last time. It was hard for her in the beginning, even with the patch on she still had cravings, butt she always kept the thought in her head that the craving will pass, which they always did. Butt this past week she didn't even think about cigaretts and smoking. And she's already feeling an improvement healthwise (although right now she has a nasty cold!)....she doesn't have that smokers cough anymore, she's not huffing and puffing when going up the stairs, she has lots more energy and is not tired as much, she smells delicious all the time now and the money she has in her pocketbook now, oh Lord!

Mom, we are so very, very proud of you!

A Celebration of Me!

Saturday night was the night of my big birthday celebration bash! Mom and I spent the day in the kitchen getting everything ready, I snoopervised her while she ~~slaved~~ cooked and baked, making sure she didn't burn my birthday cake or the meatballs, steamed the veggies just right and cooked the hamburgers to pefection.

Then it was time for us to put our best pawty outfits on and wait for the guests to arrive.

We were waiting on Auntie Lisa, Auntie Julie, the Boy and of course my divine girlfriend Sally Jean.

We've so missed being on here, even though we've been almost able to keep up with everyone. We are hoping that after the madness has died down that we'll be on here more often.

We have decided that Lilibell should be entered in this contest because she has the most delicious, pinkest and longest tongue for a little Chihuahua.

A Tragic Loss

Yesterday we learned of the tragic loss of Dr. Dre. We enjoyed reading his blog and always looked forward to new posts, and he was such a little cutie pie. But his too short life came to a tragic end on August 2, 2010.

We will miss seeing you Dr. Dre and hearing about your adventures. We hope that you are romping happily over the Rainbow Bridge.

Furfriends, please go on over and offer your condolences, love and support. Dr. Dre was his pawrents baby boy and we can only imagine how much pain they are in right now.

Rest in Peace Dr. Dre, you will always be remembered.

Yes, Mom made it for me! She said that I'll be getting a necklace to match it, but she's been super busy and hasn't had time to make it yet.

Mom has decided, after much prodding from Dad and encouragement from her friend Susan, that in October she's going to start selling her fashion doggie designs on Adorable Pet Clothes! We hope that you will all come and check out Lilibell's Couture in October. There will be many exciting fashions for us girls and even the bo-dawgs too! Plus pretty jewelry that will compliment the dresses!

Lazy Ears

Furfriends, you all know that Chewy is 100% certifiably a Chihuahua, but he is not your average Chi. Chi's are supposed to be around 5 to 6 pounds (that is the standard) but Chewy weighs around 12 pounds!! Also, he is very big for a Chi too. And the other thing that makes him different from Moi, your standard Chi, is that he has floppy ears!

No, they do not stand at attention like they're supposed to, they flop over. Mom said that when he was a puppy, his ears did stand straight up for two weeks, but then they flopped back down and have stayed down ever since. Mom calls them "Lazy Ears" because they are too lazy to stand straight up, BOL!

Butt....when Chewy is sleeping and his ears are sleeping too, they sometimes forget they're supposed to be floppy and...they stand straight up! And look, I have proof of this phenomenon!!

On Vacation!

Hello furfriends! We just wanted to let you all know that Mom is on vacation this week, so we will not be around that much. Butt we have caught up on everyone's blogs to today and hopefully at some point this week we will try to catch up again. Please don't be offended if we don't leave a comment on your blog....we will read all of them butt as we have so many friends that it would be hard to leave a comment on everyone's, especially if we have a lot of catching up to do!

We don't have a lot planned for Mom's vacation as we're having a heat wave up here and it's just way too hot to do anything outside. The weatherlady said that with the humidity the heat index is going to be over 100!! We have to say that there is one disadvantage to living in the city as all the buildings and concrete just capture the heat and it feels like you're walking into an oven when you go outside, BOL! Mom said it's even too hot to go to the beach. So we're just going to spend time with Mom in the AC and snoopervise her as she gets caught up on her sewing and jewelry making.

Butt, we did have a good 3rd of July over at Granma's house!

Here's our Auntie Suzanne. We had a lot of fun going for walks with her around the yard and up and down the street and we got lots of petting and lovin from her.

Like my Fourth of July vest? Yes, Mom made it. She's thinking about going into business selling her outfits as we think she does a pawsome job on them!

And Twix, to answer your question, yes, Mom did make me a red, white and blue necklace to go with my dress!

Then on the Fourth, Mom and Dad decided to take a day for themselves and spent it on Block Island. For those of you who have never heard of Block Island, it's a small island off the coast of Rhode Island. You need to take a ferry to get there, which takes about an hour. We said it was okay for them to go because we needed to relax after our busy day at Granma's.

Mom said that she rushed back home because she knew there were fireworks going off in the neighborhood and she knows how much fireworks makes us nervous and anxious. Rhode Island just passed a law making non-aerial fireworks legal, which meant that there were lots and lots of fireworks going off!! We are so glad the Fourth is all done with because now it will be a lot quieter around here!

My new Fourth of July dress!

Birthday Cake Recipe

Hello everyone, the Mom here! I've had a lot of requests for the recipe for the birthday cake I always make for Chewy & Lilibell's birthday, so here it is! This cake is very safe for dogs because it has no sugar or salt in it.

Peanut Butter Carrot Cake
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 cup peanut butter (I use the all natural smooth peanut butter, the brand is Teddy's)
1/4 vegetable oil
1 cup shredded carrots (approximately 2 carrots)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg

Mix flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients. Pour into greased 8" round cake pan (I use a small bone cake mold) and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Let cool.

For the frosting, I've used smooth peanut butter in the past. For Lilibell's cake, I used 1 small tub of fat free cream cheese and added enough strawberry jello powder to make it pink. Instead of cream cheese, you can use low fat yogurt mixed with jello.

Mom had a doggy birthday pawty for me on Saturday. Sally Jean and Auntie Lisa and Auntie Julie came by to help me celebrate!

Unexpected Bath

Furfriends, you won't believe what happened to me! I had to have a bath and it wasn't even that time of the month!

We were out on our daily walk when I stopped to check some pee mail. Chewy came over, decided he didn't like that pee mail and added his own to it. Problem was was that I was still checking out the pee mail and, yep, you guessed it, Chewy peed on me!!!

When we came home, Mom told Dad that I needed a bath pronto! I do not like baths, I do not like to get wet, and I certainly do not like the drying time afterwards.

Chewy thought that he would get away with not having to get a bath, because of course he wasn't the one who got peed on. But, hahahaha, little did he know that since I was getting a bath Dad figured he would give him a bath too (hahahahahahahahaha Chewy, serves you right for peeing on me!)

After our baths, it was time for our usually zoomies to try and dry ourselves off as fast as possible.

Chewy, you better not pee on me anymore!

Hey furfriends, Chewy here. For the record, I did not pee on Lilibell on purpose, I can't help it if she was in the way! I warned her by lifting my leg, but evidently she did not take the hint.

Also, unlike Lilibell, I do not mind baths at all!! When I was a little puppy, I used to climb in the shower with Dad when he was taking a shower and now when I get baths I stand there like the good dog I am, whereas Lilibell is always trying to flee the sink. When I get a bath, Lilibell thinks that our pawrents are killing me in the sink, BOL! She stands there and cries and cries until I am all done. If you think I'm kidding, here's a video Mom took of her.

So, I hope the record is set straight now!

Blue Sheep finally decided to come back home after a trip to CouchLand! I'm so very happy because I've been missing Blue Sheep and he was gone just way too long.

Blue Sheep is my absolute favorite toy in the world, he's been with me every since I was a baby, and that's been 2 years now! He's old and ratty, but that's just the way I like him. Mom has tried in the past to replace him with a new blue sheep but sorry, no one can take the place of my Blue Sheep!

Mom went to Petco on Saturday.

We love it when she comes home with a Petco bag because we know it's always either fun or nummy, like a toy, or some foods or treats.

And you know what she came home with on Saturday??

She came home with.........

A toothbrush!!!! What?? Is that it?? What is this? This is not a toy, or food or a treat. It's a toothbrush and toothpaste! She says that now we're brushing our teeth, I need my very own toothbrush so Lilibell and I don't have to share anymore.

Mom's a Doggie Fashion Designer!

Our Mom has always been a little on the creative side. Back a few years ago, she was into knitting and had made lots of scarves and even a baby blanket for one of her friend's new baby. Then she got into jewelry making, as you all know, and has now moved on, besides the jewelry making, to sewing.

When Mom was a little girl, she took sewing lessons with all her little friends from this woman in her neighborhood. But then she grew up and didn't sew anymore, except for the time she made a medieval costume she wore when she used to go to King Richard's Faire.

Butt, ever since we came into her lives, she's been wanting a sewing machine in the worst way! She said that she wanted to make us clothes herself, because she's always looking for particular outfits and gets frustrated when she can't find them, or the colors that she wants. Plus, we think that she just has too many ideas in her head that she wants to get out!!

So, when her birthday rolled around, she decided one day that that was it....she was definitely going to get a machine. She called Grandma for help in buying a good machine (Grandma is also a very big sewer, she used to make Mom and Uncle clothes and Halloween costumes when they were little and has moved on to making beautiful quilts and wall hangings). Grandma went to a local sewing machine shop and one day Mom came home with a brand new shiny sewing machine!

We are very pleased (and proud) to debut her first creation.....her Sunshine & Daisies dress, designed after the Lilibell's Jewels Sunshine & Daisies necklace!

Don't I look so pretty in it?

Mom said that she is going to make a leash to match it.....our Mom is so very matchy matchy, BOL!

We would like to add, for all you hoomans who think it is silly and/or cruel to dress dogs in outfits, that I, Lilibell, just LOVE to dress up! Besides making me look and feel like a princess, because I am a little one and my fur is very, very short, I get cold a lot and clothes help me to not shiver. Chewy only gets dressed on special occasions, he has a much higher body temp than I do and only shivers in the dead of winter.

Keep your eye out, Mom has lots of ideas in her head and we foresee a storm of sewing in the future!!

Mom learned that all treats made at the Bakery are all natural, made with premium ingredients, such as wheat flour, honey, oatmeal, peanuts....you get the picture. Best part is is that they don't use any artificial ingredients or chemicals.

On the advice of Jemma, Mom ordered for us

Peanut butter, vanilla and carob cookies, all in a delightfully small size for us itty bitty pooches!

And...

Carrots!!! We just loooove carrots, and guess what....that's the only ingredient....it's all pure, dehydrated carrots!

There are so many other delicious nummy treats at the Bakery, such as apple and oatmeal cookies, dried apples, dried bananas, cheese treats, (oh dog, I am drooling right now), but we need to finish these first before we can try the others.

Mom, really, you've just got to stop spoiling us.......just kidding!! Keep up on the spoiling!

Mom is very conscious about the quality of food we eat, making sure that our food contains the right nutrients and protein. She doesn't like us to eat anything that is loaded with chemicals or yucky fillers. She became very intrigued about this new kind of food called Vital, made by Freshpet, after she read about how well Tessa liked it. Mom went on the Vital website and read up on the ingredients it contained. Tessa mentioned that Freshpet has a blog and they were looking for pups to try out their food for free. All you need to do is leave a comment and then be willing to blog about it if you are selected. Well, we made sure that Mom left a comment for us and before we knew it, she came in the door Friday carrying a big white box!

What did Chewy do on Easter and why was he home alone?

Things went wrong right from the beginning when we stepped out of the car at Bruni's. It was my fault, I should've had him on his Gentle Leader (yes, he is on a Gentle Leader now because he pulls so bad when out for walks), but instead had used his regular leash attached to his Easter vest, which was big for him in the first place. As soon as he got out of the truck with Steve, he pulled so bad that he came right out of his vest! Got the vest back on him and proceeded to walk into the backyard where Easter dinner was to be served and a bunch of people were waiting for us.

Unbeknownst to us, Steve's cousin Jen had decided to take their dog, Casey (a yellow lab), that day. As you may or may not know, Chewy does not play well at all with other dogs. The only dog he plays well with is his girlfriend Sally Jean. Otherwise, he will bark his head off at a strange dog and try to attack them. Well, we got into the backyard, Chewy saw Casey, and all hell let loose. Chewy ran straight to Casey, barking at her and trying to attack her. I somehow managed to get his Gentle Leader on him and walked him around the yard in the hope that it would calm him down. Chewy was still highly agitated and when Steve told me he was going home to change into something cooler, I told him to bring Chewy home. I knew that if Chewy stayed there the day, it would not have been relaxing for anyone....he would just keep on trying to attack Casey, he would be agitated, we would constantly have to keep our eyes on him and on a leash (Bruni's yard is fenced in for the most part and I was planning on letting Chewy just roam free, he is very good about listening to me). He would've also made Lilibell into a little devil....she follows everything he does! If she is alone, she will not bark at strange dogs, but if Chewy is around, she follows right in his lead and will start barking her head off. In fact, after Chewy left, Lilibell never let out another peep for the rest of the day, even when she was near Casey.

It broke my heart and I felt extremely guilty about sending him home, but it was the best decision for everyone there that day. I just could not wait to get home that day to smother him in kisses to ease my guilt for leaving him behind.

And that is the story of Chewy.....Home Alone.

It started raining Sunday night, and it rained, and rained and rained some more. Tuesday it was still raining! And that's when the state we live in started to get into trouble.....from floods! Water, water everywhere! There are some rivers in the state of Rhode Island that flood when we get a lot of rain, it's almost normal routine around here. But the rain we got early this week was so bad that the rivers really flooded.....whole neighborhoods, a major interstate highway, and a big mall....all were under water!

Thank dogness the neighborhood we live in is up high and there are no rivers near our house, but about a mile down the street there's the Woonasquatucket River that runs right under the main street, Atwells Avenue, we live off of. And boy did that river flood!! It was like a river running right down the middle of Atwells!

You have to understand furfriends, it's been a very long time, like 200 years, that Rhode Islanders have seen flooding such as this. And this flood has caused so many problems and woes for our little state. The city we live in, Providence, got almost 10" of rain since Sunday night!!

But if someone is sitting there, she would rather be picked up by you instead of expending her energy by jumping up (she is such a Princess!). And if you ignore her demands, she'll stand there and whine and cry until you can't take it anymore and pick her up, lol!

Happy (Late) St. Patrick's Day

Dear Furfriends, sorry we are so late with our St. Patrick's Day wishes, but we were waiting for a package from our Auntie Amanda over in Ireland that had our special St. Patrick's Day outfits, and it finally arrived yesterday!!

When Mom came home from work, she said that we were going on a little walk to meet Dad who was at this place that was just filled with bunches of two leggers! So we put on our outfits and headed out the door to meet Dad.

We felt just so special and in the spirit of the day prancing down the street in our new outfits! We finally arrived at the place, and boy, those two leggers.....they were CRAZY! Lots of noise, lots of hooman hands reaching out to pet us.....it was enough to make Chewy crrrrazy, BOL!! We didn't stay that long, just long enough for Mom to down this dark brown drink she had (Mom, that did not smell good at all, yech!!), and then it was back home.

Whew, those two leggers just tired me out!

Also, Mom said that we were going to a special place tonight, but she won't tell us where. Her and Dad keep spelling something out every time they talk about it, but since we can't spell, we still have no idea.....it's something like V.E.T. Hmmmm, wonder what that spells out?? And she has these little plastic baggies that has our names on it

Said she needs to get our poops and put them in the bag. Mom, what the hell are you doing saving our poops?!

We are thinking that we are not going to like this surprise place at all, no way, no how!!!

Chewy's Gotcha Day!

Today is Chewy's Gotcha Day! Two years ago is when he came forever home to us, and I'll never forget that day.

Steve had been talking for the longest time, after his dog Ninook passed, about how he wanted to get another dog. I really wasn't thrilled with the idea....I never was a dog owner (having had cats all my life) and I really wasn't into the idea of the responsibility of a dog. We had a cat at the time, Phoebe, and it was just so easy having a cat! But as long as Steve got a small dog, I guess that was okay with me.

On that Saturday, he went online looking for a Chihuahua. He found one ad, but when he was sent the picture, it wasn't the one for him. Then he found another ad, and the picture he got was of the cutest little chocolate Chihuahua! He contacted the seller again, and told her we were interested. She asked us to come by the next day to see him.

On Sunday, we had to wait for the breeder to come home and call us. We waited all day for that call, and when she did finally call us, we were told that another couple was coming to look at the same pup, but they were travelling a farther distance than we were. We immediately dropped everything we were doing, jumped into the truck and raced the 20 miles to Fall River....we wanted to get there first! Now mind you, we really weren't expecting to take this particular pup and weren't expecting to bring him home that night. But once we got there, and took a look at him and held him, we knew that he was the one for us! So off we went, with a new addition to our family!

Because we weren't expecting to take a pup home that night, we were totally unprepared. It was getting close to 6:00, the time stores close up here on Sundays, so we needed to make another mad dash to Petco before they closed. We got there with 15 minutes to spare, and with Chewy wrapped up underneath my jacket, we bought a bed, toys, treats, food, bowls, leash, halter, and of course I had to get him his first sweater, lol!

When we got home, we got him all settled in and introduced him to his cat sister Phoebe. Chewy didn't mind Phoebe, as the breeder had cats of her own, but Phoebe was having nothing to do with this little ball of terror! (Phoebe eventually got used to him, but only tolerated him.) That night, both of us fought over who would hold him while we watched TV, haha! And when it was time for bed, since we didn't have a crate, we decided to use Phoebe's cat carrier, until we could get a proper crate. We went to bed, and Chewy started whining and crying. After about 10 minutes, Steve, the old softie, got up and brought Chewy to bed with us and that's where he's slept ever since.

Chewy's First Night at Home

I so fell in love with this little Chocolate Chi, I hated going to work and leaving him, I missed him so much, but when Steve picked me up from work, he always had Chewy with him to greet me in the car. Chewy quickly became the apple of our eyes and we are so very grateful to have him as part of our family!

When Mom came home from work last night, she told me that I got a package in the mail! I wondered who it was from, but Mom told me we had to wait until after supper to open it up.

Who could it be from? It's from Riley!

We Must Apologize

If we may not be around here that much next week, or not comment on your blogs. You see, our Mom got some not so good news about our Grandma...she is in the hospital and we hope that she will be getting out soon.....but it has made our Mom very, very sad.

Our Grandpa called Mom yesterday and told her the not so good news. Mom came home from work early, and I, Chewy, made sure that I gave her PLENTY of loving to try to cheer her up. But she really hasn't been herself since that call, so we will do our darndest to try to get her back to normal.

Happy New Year to all of our furfriends and their families!! We hope that you all have another year of happiness, health, love and peace!

We must apologize for not being on here that much over the last two weeks. Mom was on vacation during Christmas, and she got awfully lazy with our blogging, in fact, she didn't do all that much over vacation except cuddle with us every day (which we didn't mind at all!). She didn't do any blogging for us, she didn't look at anyone else's blogs, she even put her jewelry making on the back burner!!

Now that it is a New Year, we resolve to get her lazy butt in motion and get back in touch with our furfriends on here, we so missed you all. Please do not take offense if we haven't read your past blogs and made any nice comments, we are so woefully behind that we are just going to start new with 2010.

We trust that you all had a great Christmas and got lots of good presents from Santa Paws! We had a pawsome Christmas and Santa was very good to us! To leave off, here is our family picture taken on Christmas Day.

Have you ever heard of a thumb sucking dog?? Let me introduce you to Chewy, lol!! He started doing this when he was a little puppy....he would grab Steve's thumb and start sucking away just like a human baby and continues doing it to this day. Funny thing though is that he will only do it to a man's thumb. I can count on one hand the number of times he's grabbed ahold of my thumb! He always goes after Steve's thumb, our friend Anthony's thumb, and when my godson was over a couple of weeks ago, Chewy even grabbed his thumb! And when there's no thumb available, he'll suck on his back leg, which irritates me to no end. He'll be laying somewhere, and I'll hear a sucking sound and look over to see him with his back leg in his mouth. All I have to say is "Chewy" and he takes it out with a sheepish look on his face as if to say "you caught me!"

Chewy is an extremely quirkly little guy, and this is just one of his quirks!

Snow, Snow and More Snow

When we went to bed last night, all was quiet outside and normal. When we got up this morning, this was our world:

Snow!! And lots of it! While we were sleeping, a BIG storm came and dumped 16"!! of this cold, wet white stuff all over our 'hood! And you know what our evil parents did to us? Yep, they MADE us go out in it!

Yeah, okay Mom, we are so not happy about this, but we are ready.

Oh my doG, it was so cold out there! Mom made us walk down to the end of the street:

When we got to the end, that's when Miss Priss had had enough of the snow and started begging to be picked up. Me, I'm a dog now and can brave anything!!

Then we walked down to the other end of our street to see what Federal Hill looked like.

After that, Mom took pity on us and FINALLY brought us back into the warm house. Mom, we love ya, but if you ever get that bright idea again, we will not be happy dogs!!

She had stayed over our house one night, and early the next morning both her and Chewy got a burst of energy and started chasing each other through the house. Needless to say, it was too much activity for me that early in the morning, but I did get a kick out of it!

My Burfday Party!

On Saturday, Mom had a burfday party for me!! My Auntie Lisa came over with Dylan and my furcousin Sally Jean (well, actually, I consider her my girlfriend, BOL!). I had so much fun with Sally, she's not prissy like Lilibell, which means that she really wrestles with me, and I mean really wrestle!

Mom made a very special Burfday meal for me, Lilibell and Sally, we got to have a hamburger with some broccoli and carrots! It was so yummy!

But then after I was done with my supper, I got put into prison!! Humpf, imagine that, the Burfday boy in prison at his own party!

(Note from Mom....After Chewy got done inhaling his supper, he promptly went over, pushed Lilibell out of the way and proceeded to eat her supper, then when he got told no, he then went over to Sally and did the same thing! I think he thought that since it was his birthday, he could do whatever he wanted, lol!)

Then everyone gathered around me and sang Happy Burfday to me! After that was the best part, we got to eat the delicious cake Mom made for me! Thank you Mom, it was soooooo nummy!! It was made with peanut butter and had carrots in it and more peanut butter on top!

This is my hoodie that Mom and Dad got me for my present. It says "Security" on it, Mom said that I'm definitely the security guard at the house, of course I am, I have to let them know when I hear someone coming up the stairs...who knows, it may be a bad hooman!!

Not a Wordless Wednesday

We must send an apology out to all of our blogging friends as we have not been on here that much. We have been reading all of your exciting posts, but our Mom has been awfully busy lately and has not been able to post many comments. You see, our Mom is going to be starting an online shop after the holidays and her head has been spinning with all of the numerous details! We are still here everyone and you all are in our thoughts each and every day!!

(Late) Thankful Thanksgiving

Our Mom was sick since Tuesday and didn't have a chance to do our last Thankful Thanksgiving post, so here it is, even though it is so late!

We are thankful for our Aunties, Tiffany, Lilian, Sue and Lori. Even though Aunties Tiffany, Lilian and Sue have never met us in dog, they love us all the same, and we are so very thankful for their love! And we love our Auntie Lori, she is the best Auntie a dog can have!

We are also thankful for Mom starting our blog, through which we have met many wonderful friends! We are very thankful for each and every one of our friends on here and we love all of you!!!!

Since Mom was sick, she stayed home on Wednesday, which was great for us because we got to cuddle with her on the couch the WHOLE day!! It was such a lazy day for us!

On Thanksgiving, Mom was feeling a little bit better which we were glad for! We had a glorious Thanksgiving!! We got dressed up in our Thanksgiving outfits and went over to Auntie Lori's house, where we got to have some turkey and stuffing and it was super yummy! After that we went over to Auntie Bruni's house for more visiting and we didn't get home until very late at night. We were both very tired, as we didn't get to have our naps during the day, there was just too much excitement going on! Today we pretty much had a lazy day again (except for when Mom got the bright idea of giving us baths, that we weren't thankful for, BOL!!) to recover from the excitement of Thanksgiving.

We hope that all of our furfriends and their families had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

(We used to have a playbed, until Brother decided to keep on peeing on it, now it's been banised to the cellar until he forgets that he pees on it, I am not thankful for that, BOL!)

This past Sunday I spent the morning doing my usual round of errands - apple shopping, grocery shopping, etc. Once I got back home, I started with the routine of putting the groceries away. Chewy and Lilibell were both in the kitchen with me bouncing around playing, until they decided to go into the living room where their father was. I continued puttering around the kitchen getting everything straightened up, when I got the feeling as if I was being watched. I looked down the hallway to the living room and sure enough, there sat Chewy and Lilibell burning two holes into my back!!

I can't believe that another Tuesday has rolled around and I have not blogged about anything since last Tuesday! Either we live extremely boring lives, or there was just nothing exciting to blog about, lol! Anyways, this week's video features Chewy and the Green Monster. Steve's nephews had this monster toy that runs by motion detection, and we decided to bring it home with us to see what Chewy would do with it. He was a riot with it!! At first he didn't know what to make of it, haha!! After a couple of days, he could care less about the Green Monster and wasn't even fazed when it was turned on. Watch as he "rescues" his toys from the Green Monster!

This week features Chewy and Lilibell out on one of their daily walks. I decided to take this video for several reasons, one was to document their walk through the city (although all you see is the sidewalk, but at least you can still hear city sounds!). Another reason was to try and capture their own unique ways of walking. Lilibell, because of her luxating patella in her hind left leg, walks with a skip and when Chewy walks, his butt goes side to side, like he's sashaying down the street, lol!! The last reason for doing this video is because (and I'm probably biased on this, hehe!) Chewy has the most cutest butt in the world!

The Red Bone Has Come Home

The lost Red Bone has made it's way home again.

It took off for about 2 months this time for a wonderouse adventure in Couch Land until it turned up during an intense cleaning. And Chewy promptly took up the relationship right where it was left off before the Red Bone took off. He was not mad that the Red Bone had disappeared from his life, but quickly claimed it as his most favorite and dear toy once again. The first night it was home, Lilibell and I got into bed first, then Chewy jumped up with, of course.....the Red Bone. He laid it down on top of the comforter, then snuggled underneath for a night's sleep. The next morning, when we got up, he could not leave the bed before getting his Red Bone. And this has become his nightly ritual again, until the Red Bone goes MIA again on another woderous adventure in Couch Land.

Fall Leaves & Pumkin Carving

When Steve's nephews, Harry and Nathan, got older, he started a yearly tradition with them - pumpkin carving! Steve would buy the biggest pumpkin he could find and carve it with the little ones, they always look forward to their Uncle Steve carving the pumpkin for them! This year, since it was a gorgeous fall day out, I decided to dress the kids up in the new Thanksgiving outfits and hopefully get some good pictures of them out among the leaves at their Auntie Lori's house.

Before we left home, I tried my best to get a picture of the two of them together. Chewy was wonderful, he sat patiently on the couch while I snapped away,

but when I tried to get Lilibell to sit next to her brother, every time I was ready to snap the picture, up she would go running off to the other couch. So this was the best I could do for her picture!

One of the members on the Chi forum I belong to makes dresses and vests, and she made just the cutest vest for Chewy, don't you just love the little bow tie!!

Almost time to go and out comes Lilibell's favorite carrier, her VB (Vintage Bitch) bag, made by another member of the forum. Every single time Lilibell sees her Bag come out, she comes racing to it and jumps right into it. I think it's because she knows that when the bag comes out, she's off on another adventure!!

Yes, Chewy is pouting in this one. I think he was thinking that they were going to be left behind while the parents went out and had their fun!! (I usually stay home most Saturday nights, but the night before I did a rare night out with Steve. I don't think Chewy was happy with us at all, because when we came home there was poop on the bathroom rug, which has not happened in a very, very long time (and I know it was Chewy's!). Also, at the couple's house that we went too, they had an extremely horny dog, who kept licking my feet (he has a foot fetish), and when we got home, Chewy nosed right in on my feet, smelling the other male dog. He did not like that at all and promptly went over to their playbed and peed right on it!)

And we're off!

Chewy loves looking out the window, while Lilibell is content just to lay in her bag.

At this time of the year in New England, we always have gorgeous colors on our trees. While driving to Lori's house, I was trying to get pictures of the colors, but since we had, two Saturdays in a row, big rain storms with high winds, a lot of the trees had lost their leaves. Also, it's not really peak season yet for us in the lower half of New England, I think in 2 more weeks it will be, barring any major storms that may come our way!

Once we arrived at Lori's, I let the kids run around in the yard before going in the house, hoping they would burn off some energy.

Chewy I can let run around off leash, as he listens very well to me and I have no fear of him escaping. Miss Lilibell, on the other hand, needs to be on leash, as she likes to squeeze between the fence posts to freedom. I had wanted to get a picture of the two of them together, but I don't think that's going to happen, I'm best off cropping the two of them separately and putting it into a background, haha!

The end result of the pumpkin carving!! Steve always looks to Nathan's guidance as to what kind of face to carve. And of course, the pumpkin seeds were roasted by Richard and were delicious!

It is always a tiring day when they go to their Auntie Lori's, no time for naps for them, they are too busy investigating, playing with the little hoomans, and running around the yard and they always pass out cold on the ride home. But it's always a fun time for all of us when we go to Auntie Lori's house!

On Sunday we are going to our Auntie Lori's for pumpkin carving with the little hoomans and Mom and Auntie Lori are also going to try to get some Fall pictures of us in our Thanksgiving outfits (good luck with that one Mom, BOL!!).

Welcome to the new feature on our blog....Tuesdays at the Videos!! Every Tuesday will have a new video of the peanutheads, but the videos will mostly feature Chewy, as he is the ham of the house and is always doing crazy stuff! Lilibell is too much of a priss to act crazy, but every so often she will star in a video with Chewy.

Today's feature is "Music to My Ears" starring Chewy and his pink bone. He is in love with interactive toys, especially the ones that have a squeaker in them, as he likes to bite down on the squeaker over and over again till sometimes the squeaking drives us up a wall!

Columbus Day on the Hill

We live in a neighborhood in Providence known as Federal Hill (or, the "Hill" as everyone in Rhode Island calls it). Every Columbus Day, they hold the Columbus Day festival, which is a 3 day event. The main street, Atwells Avenue, is shut down for about a mile and a half stretch and is lined with all kinds of vendors, mostly food and alcohol. There are 3 stages - one at the beginning, one in the middle and one at the end, where live bands play throughout the day and into the night. There's also a small section that has some carnival rides and the usual carnival games. And on Sunday they always have a parade.

The best part about this feast is that our street opens up right into the festival, so we always have a bathroom to use, can go home and change if it gets cold, and during the feast days, if we're hungry, we can just walk right down the street and get a delicious sausage and peppers sandwich (it's also good to go back home to refill our alcohol, lol)! It's becoming a tradition for Chewy and Lilibell to join us on at least one of the days.......well, I should say for Chewy to try to join us, haha! Last year, which was the first year for them, he did not last too long, he kept on bumping into other dogs which of course set him into a frenzy and he was just too darn embarrassing, so he had to go back home.

This year, while I was reluctant to take him, because I knew it would just be a repeat of last year, I wanted to at least try again, I felt bad leaving him home and watching while we all take off (Lilibell included - she's such a quiet little girl at events like this!). I figure that if he at least goes out then has to go home, maybe, just maybe, he wouldn't feel too bad about having to stay at home alone.

It started out good. I got their harnesses on (Chewy needs a special harness, one that he steps into, but the ring for the leash is on a strap that goes across the front of his chest. Why you ask? Because he does not walk normal with a regular harness, he lunges and pulls so bad that it looks like he's walking on his chest! This type of harness corrects this behavior.), then put on their coats as it was quite cool that day, and we were off!

No sooner did we leave our driveway and started heading down the street but what comes walking toward us was a pack of greyhounds!!! I told Steve to make a quick left into the driveway across the street from our house, hoping that that would distract Chewy and he would miss seeing the dogs........alas, it did not work. He saw them and started barking his fool head off, which in turn set Lilibell to barking (she never barks at other dogs, only when she's around her brother....monkey see monkey do!!), then he started lunging and pulling on his leash. After this little episode, we proceeded to the end of our street, where he saw another dog and again started barking his fool head off! That was it, I told Steve he needed to go back home. Which broke my heart, because when I turned around, I could see our house from the end of our street and there was Chewy in the window, but what could we do??

Lilibell, however, was the belle of the feast!

I could not take two steps without someone coming over to us to exclaim how adorable she was and could they pet her! While I don't really mind the attention, and I'm sure she doesn't mind it at all, it does get tiring after a while.

After a little while, Steve and I both went back home to use the bathroom, and Steve decided to try Chewy again. This time, we decided to walk around the back of the block, hoping that Chewy would walk off some steam before going back to the crowds. Well, this time he lasted a bit longer, about 10 minutes! He saw a dog, but didn't really pitch a fit, just sat there and growled at him.

I walked across the street with Lilibell to get something to drink, and when I came back there's Steve holding Chewy with his harness and coat off!! That little runt pitched a fit so bad that in his frenzy he got himself out of the coat and the harness!! That was it, back to home he went for the rest of the day.

The Little Patient

This whole ordeal started back in June, when Lilibell had an appointment to be spayed. You may have read about the ensuing problems here. After a month of being on Denamarin, her liver levels were finally down to normal and she got the go ahead for her surgery! I of course was, on the one hand, happy that the surgery could finally go forward, but on the other hand, it made me nervous and anxious all over again. As many of you can relate, I just hate the thought of one of my babies having to go through this, and was still a little worried that something might happen to her - because of her liver levels being out of whack, there were certain things she could not have in her anesthesia, and I started having all kinds of nightmares, such as what if she could feel pain during the surgery (yes, I have a very active imagination, lol!). The day of the surgery came, October 8. As I had to work, Steve was to drop her off at the vets bright and early that morning. My mind was scattered all over the place that morning from worry, Steve was the one who thought of bringing her blue sheep with her so she could have some comfort, and to also dress her in her warm pink hoodie. It was a very nerve wracking morning and early afternoon until I could call the vets at 2:00 to see how she made out. And what a relief it was to hear that she was okay and would be ready to be picked up 7:30 that night! We did have the option of having her stay overnight, but we decided to pick her up (I had the overwhelming need to have my baby back home with us and in my arms). We got to the vets and waited in a room until they gave her pain meds. The door opened.....and there was my little munchkin, with that ridiculous cone on, but with a smile on her face and her tail wagging a mile a minute (think she was happy to see us?!!).

Before we left home, I had already washed my face and got ready for the night, so the only thing I had to do when I got back home was change into my PJs. Once we were home, I settled us on the couch and Chewy came over to sniff his sister. I have to say that he was such a little angel, I had envisioned problems with him, such as wanting to play with her or being rough with her. But he sensed that she wasn't feeling good and contented himself with snuggling up with us.

I took that ridiculous cone off of her so she could be comfortable and threw our faux fur throw over us so she could be warm. As we were sitting there, I could feel her quivering from the pain and hear her whimpering and that's when my tears started. I started questioning the wisdom of us bringing her home that night, and I felt so guilty for putting her through this ordeal and utterly helpless, until Steve pointed out the fact that she would've been in pain no matter where she was, and at least she was home in a familiar environment with us, instead of being alone in a cage.

Then I had to figure out where we would sleep that night. I didn't want us to sleep in bed because I wasn't sure if she would wake up and try to jump off the bed. Then I thought of making a bed for her on the floor beside my bed, but nixed that idea - I knew I would not be able to sleep and would be constantly leaning over to check on her throughout the night. I decided that we would sleep on the couch and needless to say, it was not a good night's sleep for me! I took the back cushions off the couch so we could have more room, which resulted in me being pressed up against the hard back; I had Chewy either between my legs or next to them, so I didn't really have much leg room; and I had Lilibell on the side of me next to my stomach. During the night, every time I needed to turn over, I woke up so that I could turn over carefully and not jostle Lilibell. And even though she was right beside me, I still checked on her throughout the night, making sure she was still breathing!

The next day I had taken a personal day, and Lilibell spent the whole day sleeping on my stomach, except for when she got up to pee and eat a little.

Saturday she basically slept the whole day, but ate a little more than Friday, and by Sunday she was finally starting to get back to herself. I decided to take her out a bit for our neighborhood Columbus Day Feast and to get some air. By Monday, she was fully back to her normal bubbly self!

All I can say is "whew" thank goodness this is all done and over with!!
